Connecting your own email address

There are two halves to "the email comes from you", and Restock Notify gives you them at different times. Worth knowing which you have, because your customers can see the difference.
The name: yours from the first send#
Every message goes out under your shop's business name. A customer opening it sees the shop they gave their details to, not a marketing platform they have never heard of. That is true before you configure anything.
The address: ours, until you connect your own#
Until you connect a mailbox, the underlying address belongs to the platform. The mail arrives, it is signed and authenticated, and it says your shop's name — but a customer who looks closely, or who hits reply, is not corresponding with your inbox.
We would rather write that here plainly than let you find out from a customer who replied to a message you never received.
Two ways to connect your own#
- Google — connect the Gmail or Google Workspace account you already answer mail from. Messages leave from that address and replies land in that inbox.
- Your own mail server — paste SMTP details for the mailbox your shop already uses. Same outcome, for shops not on Google.
Either one is set up once, under Settings. Nothing else about your alerts changes: same drafts, same cap, same waitlist.
Why it is worth doing#
Replies. A restock alert is the message a customer is most likely to answer — "can you hold it?", "do you have it in blue?" — and an answer that reaches your own inbox is a conversation, while one that reaches ours is a support ticket.
It also helps deliverability over time: mail from a domain your customers already recognise, with a sending history of its own, is less likely to be filtered than mail from a shared platform address.
